Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Nexus Inc. (Nexus株式会社) ("we" or "us") handles information in the FrameGrab app (the "App"), which creates photos from videos.

1. Basic Approach

The App creates, saves and displays photos from videos entirely on your device. We do not receive your videos or photos, and we do not store or process them on our servers or in the cloud.
The App does not require an account, and it does not use analytics or crash reporting tools. Information leaves your device only for advertising (section 4), in-app purchases (section 5) and inquiries you choose to send (section 6).

2. Information Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following information only on your device. It is not sent to us.
- Videos you select and photos created from them: photos are created and the "Skip similar photos" check is performed on your device without AI or external services. Temporary files are created only while needed for processing and are deleted afterwards.
- Save history: to show the list of photos you saved, the App keeps the save date and time, the name, length and recording date of the source video, the time in the video of each photo, favorite marks, identifiers that point to the photo in your photo library, and reduced-size images. Photos that could not be saved to your photo library are kept in the App until they are moved.
- Settings and usage: photo save settings, appearance and app icon settings, the dates on which saving and sharing are available, whether you have used the first free save, and the status of FrameGrab Pro.
- Home screen widget: if you add the widget, up to 24 reduced-size images from your save history are shown in an area on the device shared with the widget. Others may see these images on the Home Screen or Lock Screen, so please consider where you place the widget.
The save history is erased when you choose "Remove from history" on the history screen or delete the App. Photos saved to your photo library remain there after you delete the App and are managed in the Photos app. Depending on your operating system settings, information on your device may be included in device backups.

3. Photo Library Access

The App uses access to your photo library when you choose a video to turn into photos, when you save photos, and when it shows saved photos in the App. If you allow the App to read your photo library on iOS, the App reads a list of videos and reduced-size images on your device in order to show up to 12 recent videos on the home screen.
If you choose the App from another app's share menu, the selected video is copied into an area of the App on your device and then read. If you choose to share a photo, the photo is passed to the share function of your operating system, and the recipient handles it under their own terms and policies.
You can change photo library access at any time in your device settings.

4. Advertising

The App uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob), provided by Google LLC, to show a banner ad on the Settings screen and a rewarded video ad before you save or share a photo. We use Google User Messaging Platform to confirm consent for ads.
- Information that may be sent: when ads are shown, Google and the businesses that deliver ads may receive your IP address, device type and operating system version, App information, advertising identifier, and information about ad display and interaction.
- Purposes: delivering and displaying ads, measuring impressions and performance, and preventing fraud.
- Your choices: on iOS, you can choose whether to allow the advertising identifier to be used in the operating system prompt. Depending on your region, a consent screen may appear, and you can change your choices in "Ad privacy settings" in the Settings screen where it is shown. The information processed and the ads you see depend on your region, your choices and your device settings.
Videos, photos and inquiry content are not sent to advertising businesses. For how Google handles information, please see https://policies.google.com/privacy
No ads are shown while FrameGrab Pro is active.

5. In-App Purchases

We use RevenueCat, Inc. to manage purchases of FrameGrab Pro and the optional tip. The App issues an anonymous app user identifier.
- Information that may be sent: the anonymous app user identifier, purchase history (such as products and transactions), purchase status, App version, operating system type and version, and your device language and region settings. We do not send your name, email address, videos or photos. Automatic collection of device identifiers is disabled.
- When it is sent: when the App starts (to check Pro status and prices), and when you make or restore a purchase.
- Purposes: confirming transactions, providing and restoring purchased items, preventing fraud, and aggregating purchase status.
Payments are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment information such as credit card numbers is handled by these stores, and we do not receive it. For how RevenueCat handles information, please see https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy

6. Inquiries

We receive the following information only when you send an inquiry from the inquiry form in the App, or when you contact us by email.
- Information sent: the inquiry category, the message, an email address if you want a reply, the App version, operating system type and version, and your device language and region settings. Videos and photos are not sent. Communication information such as IP addresses may be processed by Google services when the inquiry is sent.
- Recipients: the inquiry is received by Firebase (Cloud Functions and Cloud Firestore) provided by Google LLC, and stored in data centers in the United States.
- Purposes: answering your inquiry, investigating problems, and improving the App.
- Retention: we delete inquiry information 3 years after we reply. We check at least once a year and delete information whose retention period has passed.
Please do not include personal information that is not needed for us to respond, such as your full name, address or information about children.

7. Third-Party Services and International Transfers

We do not provide personal information to third parties except as required by law or with your consent. We entrust the handling of inquiries to Google LLC and the management of purchases to RevenueCat, Inc. Both are based in the United States.
Information may therefore be processed and stored outside your country, including in the United States and Japan, where we are based. Those countries may have data protection laws that differ from the laws of your country. We require these providers to take appropriate safeguards and we supervise them as necessary.

8. Retention and Security

Information stored on your device is kept until you delete the App or clear its data. Inquiry information is kept as described in section 6. We limit access to information to staff who need it to respond, and we take reasonable measures to prevent loss, leakage or damage of information.

9. Your Choices and Rights

You can use the App without creating an account, and you do not need to enter your name. You can turn off tracking in your iOS settings or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings, change ad settings as described in section 4, and restore or stop FrameGrab Pro as described in our Purchases help.
To request access to, correction of or deletion of information we hold about you, contact us at the address below. We will verify your identity and respond as required by applicable law. Videos, photos and save history on your device are not held by us and cannot be retrieved by us. For information held by a third-party service, please also contact that provider.

10. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age for consent to data processing where you live), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Purchases should be made with the consent of a parent or guardian if you are a minor.

Additional Information for U.S. Residents

Some U.S. state privacy laws, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, give residents additional rights. In the past 12 months, the categories of information processed through the App are: identifiers (such as the advertising identifier processed by Google and the anonymous app user identifier processed by RevenueCat), internet or other electronic activity (App usage and ad interactions), commercial information (purchase status and history), device language and region settings, and the contents of inquiries you send us.
We do not sell personal information for money. If you allow tracking, Google may use your advertising identifier to show personalized ads, which some state laws may treat as "sharing" or "targeted advertising." You can opt out at any time by turning off tracking for the App in your iOS settings, or by deleting your advertising ID in your Android settings.
You may request to know, access, correct or delete your personal information by contacting us. You may use an authorized agent. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Additional Information for Residents of the United Arab Emirates

We handle personal data in accordance with Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data. We process personal data with your consent (for example, when you allow tracking in iOS or send us an inquiry) or where processing is necessary to provide the App to you. Personal data is disclosed to the following recipients outside Switzerland:
・Google LLC (Google AdMob for advertising; Firebase Cloud Functions and Cloud Firestore for inquiries), in the United States and other countries where Google operates. This is based on Google's certification under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the standard contractual clauses in Google's data processing terms.
・RevenueCat, Inc. (purchase status and history), in the United States. This is based on RevenueCat's data processing agreement, which includes the standard contractual clauses adapted for Switzerland.
・Nexus Inc., in Japan, where we read and answer inquiries. Japan is not on the Federal Council's list of countries with adequate data protection; this disclosure is made because it is necessary to answer the inquiry you send us (Art. 17 FADP).
Payments through the App Store or Google Play are processed by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies. Your choices in Google's consent form apply to advertising only. You may request information about, correction of or erasure of your personal data by contacting us. You may also contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
